M855A1 vs Ar500 Armor
Просмотров 45 тыс.14 дней назад
InRange is supported by viewers like you: patreon.com/inrangetv An AR500 steel armor company recently made the claim that steel armor is better than ceramic. We put AR500 armor to the test versus M855A1 to find out. ERRATA: We made the mistake of calling M855 and M855A1 "AP rounds". Neither are specifically designated as AP, but have some AP like qualities. We spoke to this as people who freque...

In this video we discuss how to resurrect the 44 Henry Centerfire cartridge and use it in your 1860 or 1...

    I figure PSA’s thought on long stroke was that they’re doing so much with AKs now. I wonder if they’re using AK pistons.

    Who ever said Steel is better than Ceramic? AR500 Official Company? How High Were They? I'm cheap and own Spartan AR550 steel and even I know I wouldn't rely on it without extra coating, a kevlar spall capture sleeve, trauma pad and a prayer.

    High glass content in glass-embedded nylon causes the mold injection dies to wear out faster and the mold is one of the biggest costs to polymer parts. That stock looks like it's made of several large complicated pieces so the machining for the mold is probably a lot costlier than other parts and there's too much relying on the polymer-polymer fit to make it mechanically stable. The engineering guys probably got carried away, so the injection department had to order really pricey machining work, and the financial department told them to cut corners. The engineers were probably relying on the rigidity of the high glass content parts to make it feel solid and cost-cutting undermined that.

  • @fanta4897

    If you really really wanted to have more shots to be used as quickly as possible, I'm thinking you didn't really care about speed of reloading, but instead just had two loaded guns, or another loaded cylinder to make the reload fast enough that it would really matter.

    Y'all are missing the core market by focusing on the wrong iteration. The JAKL was originally devised and marketed as the .300blk pistol. More importantly, as a piston-driven folding kit to buy for your 80% lower so everything can be off books. That's what I bought and have interest in. Test one of those against a .300blk AR pistol.

    The op rod and piston in a short stroke gun have to reciprocate. They just don't stop in the same spot as a long stroke gun.

      Long stroke also makes disassembly much easier if you have the space to just pull the whole bolt carrier out the back which most guns do.

    You can’t call the gun 2.5 MOA using range ammo. I mean you can but it’s not representative of what the gun can do.

    • @InrangeTv
      @InrangeTv 6 часов назад

      You can when that same ammo performs better in other guns. We test with what is representative of what we use, not gucci $3 a round stuff that never sees the light of day.

    • @mavrikmavrik3032
      @mavrikmavrik3032 6 часов назад

      @@InrangeTv I’ve shot thousands of those particular rounds and while they are great for 50 yards and in and great for plinking at distance they can’t tell you much when shoot groups at 100 yards. Sure range ammo shoots better out of my 18” Criterion than it does out of my 14.5” Faxon pencil barrel but I wouldn’t say the accuracy of my Criterion barrel is 2MOA just because I used that ammo. (And AAC 75gr or 77gr ammo will group well under 1MOA for 55 cents a round.)

    My controversial take: The stock is ugly as hell. I know thats not important at all, but I never liked the scar style, ACR style, or variants that have a top and bottom that slide. Yes who cares if it works, but it doesn't, so I can happily bash it now. Robinson XCR classic stock or old Galil style would look sick. Some of the pistol variants of this seem cool.

    Based on what little I've seen about this rifle the Jakl just doesn't look like it's worth the premium price.

  • @sgtjohnson2151
    @sgtjohnson2151 8 часов назад

    The minor flexing is not a major issue outside of battlefield or kicking down doors. An arm brace flexes a lot more than F5 stock and I don't hear anyone crying about. The JAKL has many other stock options, find the one suits your preference. For the price point its a solid platform that should improve over time in option. No, I am not a PSA fanboy, just someone in the industry. Nice video review.

  • @bigshoe84
    @bigshoe84 8 часов назад

    I agree that the F5 stock is flexible when fully extended but as a shooter that doesn’t fully extend my F5 stock it really isn’t overly flexy when out 1 click. I wouldn’t pay the asking price for the bare stock from F5 but it’s a good deal when it comes on the Jakl.

    Most of the complaints given here don't bother me too much (the out of spec rail and wobbly stock are exceptions). My main complaint is that the MSRP is about twice what it should be. If you have that much money, buy a high-end optic or something. Don't buy this (or at least get it at a significant discount).

    Oh boy, I can't wait to hear about how shit it is based solely on the fact it's made by PSA and affordable, not $7000 and from Switzerland. I will edit this comment if I'm wrong after watching the complete video.

  • @gnarshread
    @gnarshread 8 часов назад

    I am a happy PSA customer. I do think the rifle is cool! But I really don't need another tacticool rifle. Honesty, I'm burned out on them. I've gone back to sporting clays and I'm enjoying the hell out of "old man" guns with wood and haven't touched an AR in months. Mainly because they're all kinda the same. I still love PSA and what they've achieved. But I would have expected more for a mechanically disadvantaged product.

      I sympathize. Been there for a few years. I prefer walnut and blued steel. Nothing wrong with AR’s (or whatever your thing is), I just really like older guns. For the most part. My ruger deerstalker is probably my favorite firearm. They just don’t make those anymore.

    Another great review! Now I wonder how the PSA Jakl compares to the PSAK GF (PSA AK-47). InRange review 🙏🙏 I'm one of the guys with too many ARs looking for something different that can shoot just as well as one. There's lots of other semi-autos but they kinda suck relative to ARs, especially when shooting past 200 yards.

  • @Pershath08
    @Pershath08 9 часов назад

    I think your conclusion is perfect for this. This gun kind of reminds me of an FNC in that: It works and is reliable, but is more expensive, heavier, and a little worse than an AR. So really it’s a fun gun.

  • @devereuxbirdzell
    @devereuxbirdzell 9 часов назад

    I have a PWS with a long stroke piston and it's my favorite rifle when shooting suppressed. Most of the gas is vented out just a bit further out and it makes it tolerable shooting indoors. Outdoors you hardly get any gas in your face at all. I think they have their place in modern fire arms for sure.
